Wood, Deputy Consul General of the United Statesat Rome, Italy June 25th 1884. Dear Father Doonan, I transmit herewith, a folio which I desire to present to Georgetown College. You will discover upon examination, that this relic was once in daily use by the late Holy Father, Pope Pius IX. The certificate shows how this folio was obtained by Mr. Wood, and to complete the chain I now state that Mr. Wood presented it to me.
